A building that behaves less like an object and more like a piece of the terrain — mass carved away until only shelter remains.
A timber-and-concrete pavilion that folds into a hillside, framing the valley while disappearing into it.

Reading the Site
The pavilion begins with the slope. Rather than levelling the ground, the structure steps down the ridge in three plates, each tuned to a contour line so the building sits with the land instead of on it.

Carving the Mass
A solid volume is eroded by movement and view. The resulting voids become circulation and light wells — the negative space does as much work as the structure.

Material Weight
Board-formed concrete grounds the lower plates while a warm timber canopy floats above, the two materials meeting at a thin glazed seam.
